While Indigenous men face unacceptably high rates of incarceration; the rate for Indigenous women is significantly higher and is rising at a faster rate. For the June 2002 quarter, Indigenous women were over‐represented at 19.6 times the non‐Indigenous rate compared with Indigenous men at 15.2 times.
